A look back through travel journal excerpts:
“When the sun goes down, the beach is transformed
into a long line of beach bars dressed up in neon lights.”
“The ocean was choppy with huge waves all around us. At first it was just a few
small splashes but soon enough the larger waves rose up and over
before crashing into the boat. Bye-bye camera.”
“IRISH BOYS! YES!”
“After dancing all night we ended up down the beach.
Sex on the beach. It sounds romantic but really it’s just messy
and you wake up with sand everywhere it shouldn’t be.”
“To travel is to discover new countries and cultures, eating new cuisine
and getting lost on public transportation.
There are no preconceptions of you when you travel.”
“I’ve only had 5 hours of sleep since Wednesday morning and it’s
currently 2AM on Saturday. I’m so exhausted that my head aches
and my eyes are so red I look stoned. Bloody hell.”
“We sailed under the golden gate bridge,
taking pictures and soaking in the beauty
of the city all lit up at night.”
“My room had bed bugs in some of the beds.
I don’t think in our beds because I didn’t get any bites.”
“Stunning blue ocean to your right, you drive
through the green mountains on windy roads,
getting higher and higher as you go.”
“Everyone is from England. I love it.
It makes me want to start saying funny
British words like lad and chuffed.”
“We all laid out under the stars on the top deck of the boat,
watching the sky turn pink in the distance as lightning lit up the sky.”
“Apparently yesterday was Wednesday, not Thursday.
I didn’t realize this until I got to the airport at 3AM
and was told that it was Thursday morning,
not Friday and that my flight didn’t leave until tomorrow.”
“What if all I want to do is travel, to sell my
material possessions and go all around the
world and maybe write about it on the way?
People think that’s crazy at home, it’s not what
I should be doing. It’s unstable, unplanned. I
could end up stranded in a random country with
nothing. But to me, that sounds perfect. Exciting.
A real adventure.”
